Beautiful cherry blossoms with Marabu acrylic paste

Cherry blossoms symbolise beauty, new beginnings and the arrival of the first warm season of the year. They can be beautifully captured on canvas using acrylic paints and Marabu fine grain acrylic paste. In this way, the beauty of cherry blossoms will shine forever.

You will need:

  • Canvas
  • Acrylic paint
  • Marabu Fine-Grained Acrylic Paste
  • Flat brush
  • Round brush
  • Paintbrush
  • Graphite pencil

1) Mix the background colour. The first step is to mix together the appropriate background colour. Cover the entire canvas with the mixed colour using a larger flat brush. To add interest and depth, you can use a lighter or darker shade in some areas.

2) Draw a branch. When the background is dry, draw a cherry tree branch on the canvas with a pencil.

3) Painting. Paint the branch with a finer round brush, using dark brown acrylic as the base colour. Add volume to the branch with a lighter shade of brown.

4) Add cherry blossoms. When the branch is dry, start adding the flowers. To do this, mix Marabu fine-grained acrylic paste with pink acrylic paint and model the flowers on the canvas with a palette knife. For a more vivid result, use different shades of pink. You can also leave some of the flowers completely white (do not add any pink acrylic to the paste).

5) Finishing. Once the paste has dried, you can add details with acrylic paint if you like – for example, an ochre yellow core or darker edges.
